2012 Topps Tribute Baseball

2012 Topps Tribute Baseball is the first premium baseball product of the new year. With its mirror foil finish, it’s bound to be one of the shiniest as well. In addition to plenty of current stars, the Tribute line does a good job of highlighting past stars as well. Willie Mays returns to the set this year, joining Topps’ outstanding lineup of Hall of Famers. Mays will have both on-card autographs and memorabilia cards in the set. This year, all autographs and memorabilia cards are numbered to 99 or less. Although sticker autographs are a part of the line, they are inserted as extra hits. 2012 Topps Tribute is a hit-per-pack product, split evenly between signatures and relics. Each six-pack box promises three on-card autographs and three memorabilia cards.

2012 Topps Series 1 Baseball

Product Details

In 2011 the theme for the flagship Topps baseball set was diamonds. With 2012 Topps Baseball, expect to see lots of gold. From parallels to inserts to the continuation and expansion of the popular code redemptions, gold is the thread that runs throughout. Hobby boxes promise either an autograph or relic card. Jumbo HTA boxes have one autograph and two relic cards. One of these relics isn’t a game-used piece but rather a manufactured relic card featuring pins, rings or real gold. 2012 Topps Series 1 Baseball follows the familiar format of a 330-card base set that includes 265 veterans, 30 rookies and 35 cards for league leaders, award winners and highlights.

2011 Topps Series 2 Baseball Double Sparkle Contest

Collectors now have an added incentive to collect 2011 Topps Series 2 Baseball. Topps announced that special “Double Sparkle” cards featuring Jason Heyward, Tim Lincecum, and Evan Longoria have been randomly distributed in Series 2 packs. The first person to collect the “Double Sparkle” cards for all three players will receive an authentic Rawlings baseball bat signed by Robinson Cano, Andre Ethier, Curtis Granderson, Russell Martin, Justin Morneau, Hanley Ramirez, B.J. If your father is a baseball fan then we can help make your Father’s Day shopping a very painless experience and you won’t have to leave your home. You can commemorate a special date to a sporting event or venue with a collectible gift. Maybe you couldn’t afford tickets to the World Series, but you can give him a “little piece” of the event. Nine Straight Doubleheaders

The 1928 Boston Braves played nine consecutive double-headers from September 4 to 15.

They lost five of the double-headers in a row, one at Philadelphia and four to the Giants in Boston.

They had also played twinbills on August 31 and September 1.

Then they played two again on September 20, 21, 22, and 24. That adds up to 33 games in 24 days!

Their record in the 15 doubleheaders was 11-19.  The 7th-place Braves managed to sweep one of them in Cincinnati on September 22.

Two future Hall-of-Famers were on the 1928 Braves: George Sisler, who hit .340, and Rogers Hornsby, who hit .387.
